Running Race & Ethnicity Initiatives in the Workplace – 25 September 2023

Many companies, particularly SMEs, are keen to increase their diversity, equity and inclusion footprint and incorporate DEI initiatives into their corporate strategies. However, the perception that it will require large amounts of effort and resources or a large expert team to implement can sometimes be a barrier. We want to equip members with practical DEI policies and initiatives, suitable for a range of budgets and resources, which companies can look to implement.

About this event:

Our virtual lunchtime seminar – Running DEI Initiatives: Race & Ethnicity Initiatives in the Workplace – will take place online on Monday 25 September 2023, 1pm – 2pm.

The event will be hosted by Doyinsola Ishola, co-chair of Alfa for Racial Equity Community from Alfa, Georgia Bright, group people and talent partner at Praetura Group and Inayah Noormahomed, associate in the financial services team at Shoosmiths.

We will also be joined by guests from codebar, upReach and Talent Tap who will provide background and insight on their respective organisations and how companies can get involved.

The agenda for the session:

  • 13:00 – 13:15: Introduction, types of initiatives and their benefits
  • 13:15 – 13:50: Guest spotlight
  • 13:50 – 14:00: Q&A & Wrap-up

Our guest speakers:

codebar is a charity that facilitates the growth of a diverse tech community by running free regular programming workshops for minority groups in tech.

upReach is a charity that helps disadvantaged students from across the UK realise their potential by investing in pioneering technology to facilitate, deliver and evaluate highly personalised programmes of support.

The Talent Tap is a charity whose goal is equal access to professional jobs for young people, regardless of socio-economic background or geography.

You’ll also hear directly from two students about their work experience placements, and the impact it had so early in their careers.
